Why GreenSpring?
GreenSpring strives to provide world-class education including each facet of classical music performance. The Conservatory Preparatory program is a two-week program prepares students for a career in music. Our distinguished faculty will help students along every step of the way, bringing out their highest potential in every venue from the salon to the orchestral hall.
Our Conservatory Prep Institute is geared towards serious young musicians who are interested in a career in music. Open to all instruments for students ages 12-18, our program is designed to be an intense yet fun summer program. Musicians receive one-on-one lessons with our distinguished faculty. Special seminar topics and fun social activities keep students engaged while also piquing their musical interests. We know students are thrilled with our course offerings as 90% of our students have returned year after year!

Musicians will spend two weeks at our venue in Richmond, Virginia during the most beautiful days of summer, enjoying the following training benefits:
The Conservatory Prep Institute Includes:
Lessons: Four private lessons with our world-class piano faculty
Coachings: Accompaniment and music preparation training from experienced professionals
Recitals: Perform solo and chamber music in multiple recitals
Competition: Admission to our GreenSpring Summer Sonata and Concerto competition
Technique: Individual coachings aimed to keep the body free of practice-related injuries
Theory: Music theory classes to inspire an understanding of what makes standard repertoire special
Workshops: Learn from master teachers during workshops tailored specifically for conservatory prep students. Example topics include Orchestral Skills, The Gig Musician, Music Therapy Overview, and Efficient, Effective Practicing
History: Music history classes to further instill a fully-contextualized familiarity with the music

The Conservatory Prep Institute is located in historic Richmond, Virginia. Spend your summer exploring the historic downtown, creating beautiful music, and making new friends!

Conservatory Prep Tuition - $2,100
Room & Board (optional) - $900
Scholarships considered upon request.
An advance deposit of $200 will be collected upon registration in order to reserve your place.

Early registration ends January 31st, 2025
Applications close April 15th, 2025
Audition requirements:
Auditioners should provide a YouTube, Google Drive, or other accessible link showcasing the following two requirements:
One fast, technical étude or movement from performance repertoire
One slow, lyrical étude or movement from performance repertoire
There is no expected time limit for an audition - only that the two pieces show a broad range of musical experience.
